ABOUT CARING MINISTRY

The Mount Pisgah Caring Ministry seeks to provide Christ-centered help, hope and healing to those who find themselves in difficult and challenging life circumstances. Caring for persons in their time of greatest need is a precious gift God has entrusted to us. As we work to meet the needs of those who are hurting and spiritually broken, we trust our compassionate Lord Jesus to equip us.

We are here to meet you where you are:

Divorce is always hard; never easy. It creates a lot of emotional and spiritual baggage. We want to offer you support during this more than difficult time. Peace After Divorce is designed to help you not be defined by divorce, but to work through pain, disappointment, sense of failure, and/or spiritual tornado. This material is designed to help you work through divorce and find your future. All with the help, love and strength of Jesus Christ.

This group will start Sunday, Oct. 10 and conclude Nov. 12. We’ll meet in room S183 (basement of North Campus) from 5:00 – 7:00 (nursery if provided with reservation). If you have questions, please contact Valorie Deel or Kim Bell.

GriefShare is a special weekly support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. It’s a place to be around people who understand what you’re feeling.  At GriefShare, you’ll learn valuable information about recovering from your grief and renewing your hope for the future.  A new GriefShare group will meet  Sundays August 20-November 2, 2017 | 4:00-6:00pm in room S214 (North Campus). For information, email Valorie Deel or call 678-336-3231.

We desire to be with you and your family to provide spiritual care and encouragement. In order to provide God’s love to you, please keep us informed of upcoming surgeries, deaths in the family, hospital stays or lengthy illnesses.

Please contact Valorie Deel at vdeel@mountpisgah.org or call 678-336-3231.
Online prayer requests are also welcome.

loving-mealsLoving Meals is a ministry designed to give physical support through meals to people who are experiencing difficult times due to surgery, delivery of baby, medical treatments and for many other reasons. Loving Meals volunteers are the hands and feet of Christ to the Body of Christ.

Meals are delivered to homes in disposable containers with no expectation of a visit from the person receiving the meal. Volunteers simply deliver the meal and leave.  If you find yourself in need of meals, please let us know. We will work out a delivery schedule with you as well as any dietary restrictions so you can be ministered to in Christ’s love.

To Receive Loving Meals or to Volunteer

Mount Pisgah embraces the power of prayer.  We are called to call on the name of Jesus for healing, strength, power and to stay in communion with Him.  There are several ways you can tap into this amazing strength gained through prayer:

Intercessory Prayer Team

You can join our Intercessory Prayer Team to pray for others as needs arise.  We ask that you keep your involvement in this ministry confidential as well respecting all prayer requests by keeping them confidential as well.  As prayer needs arise, they are emailed out to the prayer team.  You pray for these needs from your own environment.

Spiritual disciplines opens us to God’s transforming love and the changes that only God can bring about in our lives. Picking up on the monastic tradition of creating a “rule of life” that allows for regular space for the practice of spiritual disciplines, this study takes you more deeply into understanding seven key disciplines along with practical ideas for weaving them into everyday life. The choice to establish your own sacred rhythm is the most important choice you can make with your life.

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11

Stephen Ministry Illustrator

Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one, confidential ministry focused on listening, caring, and providing support during life’s challenges. When you need someone that is not quite as close to the situation you are in, a Stephen Minister can be there as a third party that will listen with no judgment toward you, your situation, or others involved in your situation. You meet with your Stephen Minister once a week for an hour. Stephen Ministers are placed with a care receiver of same gender and you are your Stephen Minister’s only care receiver. Care receivers may be going through challenges such as:

  • Divorce
  • Terminal illness
  • Loneliness
  • Terminal illness of a loved one
  • Spiritual confusion or frustration
  • Caregiving
  • Empty nest adjustments
  • Forgiveness issues
  • New baby
  • Grieving
  • Death of someone close
  • Loss of pregnancy
  • Illness
  • The list could go on…

I WOULD LIKE TO BE A STEPHEN MINISTER

Stephen Ministers are trained with over 100 hours of studying and classroom time. Stephen Ministries provides very thorough training. It is more than simply training – it is a lifestyle for the caring Christian and can be used in various areas of life and ministry.

Training begins Oct. 21 in room S215B. Orientation meetings will be held in that same room on Monday nights – August 21, Sept. 18 or Oct. 2. The first and last class is a Saturday from 9:00am – 3:00pm, but all other classes are on Monday nights from 7:00 – 9:30pm. The cost of your training kit is $50. Confidential scholarships are available. You must register for this training by contacting Valorie Deel at vdeel@mountpisgah or 678-336-3231.

It’s easy for grandparents to feel irrelevant, undervalued, disconnected or even unsure of their roles or boundaries. Extreme Grandparenting can change this by giving you a pro-active, deeply relational way to make an earthly and eternal difference to your grandchildren. Whether or not you were as effective as you wanted to be as a parent, this material offers you a chance to, once again, help groom a generation for greatness. Start making an eternal difference today!
